our favorite bush antagonist and america-hater jacques chirac is cutting and running from the french presidency.
this is a positive development for america and for france. hopefully the french will can elect someone competent, and someone who is willing to take a look at that broken welfare state and make some hard changes to the system.

if it’s fair to criticize bush for his response to katrina, it should be equally fair to criticize jacques chirac’s government for its handling of the paris riots. perhaps we can all agree that chirac should be criticized for this, so what’s with the muted reaction to his non-action?
